Notice:
Sibutramine is no longer available in the U.S. The manufacturer has decided to stop producing sibutramine based on information from a recent clinical study. In this study, people taking sibutramine had an increased risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke. If you are currently taking sibutramine, you should stop taking this medication and call your doctor to discuss switching to another treatment for weight loss or maintenance of weight loss.
The study that contributed to this decision was called SCOUT, Sibutramine Cardiovascular Outcomes which found a 16% increase in adverse cardiovascular events in it's participants.
The kicker in this study is that the participants were required to have a history of cardiovascular disease (coronary artery disease, stroke, occlusive peripheral arterial disease) and/or type 2 diabetes mellitus with at least one other cardiovascular risk factor (hypertension, dyslipidemia, current smoking, or diabetic nephropathy). Safety Announcement [10-8-2010] FDA
You decide for yourself if this was a fair decision.
You have an increase risk of a heart attack from many things willingly consumed everyday. Caffeine can lead to serious cardiovascular events! Sibutramine had a high rate of success. That is the most likely reason the FDA found it necessary to take off the market.
As a result...apsTruth will discontinue the availability of this product until further notice.
